Also there is configuration to plug in your printer into the USB port or any other Smart Devices in your home for all those who are TECH Frenzy.

Let's walkthrough some initial setup steps of your Range Extender:

  1. Power on the Extender, wait for the light to turn solid green.
  2. On the system, open the Networking Tab and search for NETGEAR_EXT name in the list of all the available networks. (NETGEAR_EXT is the default name of the extender Wireless Network.)
NOTE: I am working with window wireless Utility Wizard. You can use any other Network Manager on the computer, tablet or other Devices
  3. Now open the web browser on your computer and the browser should automatically redirect you to the NETGEAR genie setup wizard.
  4. The NetGear genie setup wizard will search for the existing wireless network within the range and will give you a list of it as shown in the picture.
  5. Select the name of your Wi-Fi network and hit continue button.
  6. If your network is password enabled, then it will ask for the passphrase. Do enter the Security key and then click the continue button.
  7. Now you will get the option to select if your Extender Supports 5GHz band. If not, then select the option that says “MY ROUTER DOESN’T SUPPORT 5GHZ BAND”
  8. After the extender initializes the connection with the router then it will ask you to change the settings of your extender. If you want, you can change the settings otherwise click the continue button to move further with the setup.
  9. Now you should see the same screen as below snapshot. At this point in time the computer is disconnected from the extender wireless network.
  10. Review all your settings and make sure everything is correct.
  11. Now connect your computer back with the Extender Network.
  12. Once everything is done successfully, then you can go back to the genie wizard and check the option box saying My wireless devices are connected to the Extender Network.
  13. If you see the same page as below given screenshot, then you are all set to go ahead. Just click on the Finish Button.

If your extender is already installed but it has stopped working suddenly, then here are few things to keep in check:

  • You might need to check the connection the mobile devices individually.
  • A new router was installed but not configured with the extender so it can drop the connection for the related devices
  • In case of some sudden power outage, you may need to POWER CYCLE the whole network.
